An Introduction

Argonaftis is launching a roll on roll off service, or RoRo for short, across South Africa and the neighbouring Southern African Development Community nations. Several factors including high fuel costs, road conditions, border crossing congestion have put incredible strain on the local road haulage industry. Across South Africa, haulage firms have seen their gross profit margins tumble to between 6-1%. Argonaftis will introduce RoRo services as is prevalent in Europe. This will connect key ports, removing a great number of heavy goods vehicles from the roads.

GREENER - FASTER - SAFER

Argonaftis is able to provide a more reliable, cost effective and environmentally friendly solution. This is the beginning of intermodal transport for the SADC. Local haulage firms view the Argonaftis intermodal system as complementary, not competitive. An estimated saving of up to 40% of costs on road journeys is foreseen. This is seen as a ‘win win’ for all.
